This week, an update from dsp3000…
So it’s about time I broke my radio silence after a few months on the dark side of the moon.
The nature of my ‘real job’ means that between April and September I don’t have much free time to commit to game production.
It’s been a frustratingly slow process with far too many distractions and interruptions for any sort of efficient work flow.
There have been a few occasions when I’ve considered deleting everything and disappearing completely.
Thankfully I’m pretty experienced when it comes to talking myself back from the brink and don’t really want to trash a project I’ve been working on for the last four years.
As a safety mechanism I close down communication channels to avoid as many distractions as possible.
Phone switched off, no checking emails and I haven’t even visited the Vdategames blog for several weeks. Apologies to anyone with unanswered questions in or about my absence.
I think the last thing I posted on the blog was that stage four of ‘A Date with Bridgette’ was about 90% complete.
While completing the final ten percent may not seem like much, when the whole game exceeds 12000 images, it’s actually still quite a lot.
Stage four will add about another 4400 images to those from stages one to three.
Technically the game is exponentially complex, with so many variables it’s easy to get lost while making it. But I keep exhaustive notes to keep a track on my ideas and how they are implemented. Continually having to break off and come back later doesn’t help but I’m getting through it.
I have finished the main body of images and files for stage four and I’m now in the painstaking process of game testing. I want to make sure all the holes are filled in this game.
Once I’ve done my first series of checks and tests, it’ll be sent off for some independent testing to iron out any errors and anomalies.
I am hoping to get the game ready for release by the end of September.

dsp3000, take your time and finish whenever you like. IMHO you’re on the Mount Rushmore of great people that created one of the best erotic game series. If you feel like resting, do it, if you want more time, have it, don’t look at calendar thinking about how long you did not write something. Just keep thinking about yourself and let making games make you pleasant :]

Hi DSP – thank you for persevering and continuing with your game. The Academy series debuted 3.5 years ago, so it’s definitely been a marathon journey, and I’m very much looking forward to how the story concludes with the final acts of Bridgette and (eventually) back at the Academy.

It is good to hear back from you dsp3000 on the status of the “Date with Bridgette” series.
I came across ~9 errors (or at least what I perceive to be errors/mistakes) during my game play after Bridgette #3 was released. I noticed these while trying to get the Alexia sex as well as trying to get different end codes. I haven’t been able to get the sex scene with Alexia without some form of cheating (either manually going directly to the file during gameplay or modifying the code in the game itself). Can you please verify if the Alexia sex scene is possible and provide a hint or release a walkthrough for this? As far as I can tell, the titty show/contest at the bar is required for the sex scene with Alexia. However, in order to get this contest, Bridgette must be very drunk (wine in restaurant & cocktail in bar) as being one of the conditions. Now if Bridgette is very drunk based on the above drinks, the main character will get arrested for DUI after either leaving the movie or the leaving the scenic view. I’ve tried to get the Alexia sex scene by playing the downloaded Bridgette #2 or playing the downloaded Bridgette #3 and haven’t been able to do so without cheating.
I will send what I perceive as being the 9 errors/mistakes to Chaotic so that he forwards them to you and if they are mistakes, you can correct them before releasing Bridgette #4.

When you get a chance, please let me know if the Alexia sex scene is actually possible and not a bug since despite playing it a few times and looking at the code, I have not been able to do it without some form of cheating (either modifying the code itself and/or running the file directly during game play).
I’ve tried to search for any possible hints in the blog entries and can’t seem to find any hints/suggestions
It has been awhile since I’ve replayed it specifically to try to get the Alexia sex scene but as far as I can tell, to get it, the following things must happen:
1) The date with Bridgette must end in Bridgette #2 without you getting arrested for being drunk
2) Alexia must make the offer/suggestion of meeting up later when you leave the bar
3) The above item #2 only seems to happen if you tip Alexia AND Brigette & Alexia both bare their breasts in the bar
4) The above item #3 only seems to happen if Bridgette is very drunk (wine & cocktail at the respective location)
If item #4 happens, item #1 can’t happen.

Just letting you know that I’ve worked through your very detailed email and corrected the spelling errors and incorrect link that you identified.
Specifically regarding the ‘brassexitcheck’ files. I have amended one of them in line with your assumption that taking time to drink cocktails or dance with the girls after your visit to the bathroom was indeed time critical with regards to what can occur (with Caitlin) when you leave the nightclub.
I’m sure that makes sense to you. 🙂
I’m going to spend some time looking at the Alexia outcome next. I’m sure I made it possible to achieve without cheating, I just can’t quite remember how…

I think you may be correct that there is an error which makes reaching the Alexia scene technically impossible.
The issue revolves around the checkfiles at bar184,html. The check file checks for alcohol, when it should check for alcohol and then lust levels.
The correct combination will then allow the Alexia scene later on.
My production notes were correct but the game file was not.
The Stage Four release will of course have the updated files.

Glad to hear alls going well with you DSP. It’s a great game series you’ve made and the effort shows. Like others said a Patreon account would be worthwhile as the quality you put out is better than many other adult game creators.

Date with Bridgette is part of the series.
I’ll be working on part five as soon as I’ve finished DwB.
Hopefully I’ll be able to make some progress during the winter months.

As a big fan of your games, I think I speak for most everyone here when I say I’m glad you’re hanging in there. But also, despite the comments and things, you don’t really owe anyone an explanation for your timeline. So as someone else pointed out, don’t look at the time you spend not working and feel concerned or pressured, just continue to enjoy the work you can get done, because that’s what makes games like these good, a creator who loves doing it.
